National Express run eleven buses a day from Birmingham Coach station to Oxford, but only five of them are direct. These coaches take 95 minutes and costs as little as 11 GBP for an economy return ticket booked in advance (if you are a senior citizen you are entitled to 1/3 off). The bus (Number NX421) leaves from Birmingham bus station on Mill Lane, Digbeth and arrives in Oxford at Gloucester Green bus station. National Express have a more frequent service but require a connection in Birmingham. The buses leave from Birmingham International Airport, Stop G, outside Terminal 1 to Digbeth Coach Station in Birmingham City Centre (this change will add approx 30 minutes to your journey time). You can then catch a coach direct to Oxford, Gloucester Green in Oxford city centre.

If you are arriving or departing from Oxford by coach or public bus you will almost certainly start or finish your journey in the city centre at Gloucester Green, the central bus station. The fastest way to get from Birmingham to Oxford is via train but this is normally more expensive than the bus. From Birmingham New Street Station there are plenty of direct trains to Oxford. They depart every 30 minutes throughout the day and late into the night. The journey takes approximately 70 minutes and costs approx 45 GBP return. The train departs from Birmingham New Street and arrives at Oxford train station.

If you are arriving or departing from Oxford by train, you will be using Oxford Train station in Park End Street. Oxford Train station is a 10 minute walk from the city centre and provides a good service to all national destinations. You can get a direct train from Birmingham International Airport is Oxford, by using the small monorail that connects the main airport terminal to the mainline railway station.
