This pages lists Gastro Pubs in and around Oxford. Incase you are wondering what a gastro pub is, it is like a traditional style pub that is a hybrid between a bistro restaurant and a traditional pub, usually with a pub and restaurant area nearby. You can see a map showing the location of the pubs on our Oxford Pub Map by clicking the link.
Crazy Bear The Crazy Bear offers 2 restaurants - Thai and British bar - as well as a luxurious hotel. As a place to visit for a quick drink, this is not a recommendation - if you are not eating, you are not made very welcome at all.
The Oxford Retreat Posh new gastropub occupying the space formerly home to the Antiquity Hall.
The Trout Inn Rambling riverside pub in the attractive village of Wolvercote, an hours walk across Port Meadow. One will find peacocks, extensive outdoor seating, a pretty bridge joining the terrace to a private garden on the other side of the river. It is VERY popular in summer, especially with students taking visiting parents.
The White Hart, Wytham Superb food (much of it organic, with an emphasis on local produce) in an upmarket rural pub setting. Most who eat there come out with glowing recommendations.
